USAGE

Due to its unique properties and high adsorptive power of activated charcoal application is very wide and omnipresent. As an extension to industrial applications, active medical charcoal is used in medicine, personal hygiene products, beauty products and veterinary applications, to name a few. It is important to emphasize that the particles of activated charcoal are very well tolerated by the human body because the activated charcoal is not absorbed from the small or large intestine and all the administered  amount is excreted by the feces. Black stool is the normal adverse effect of activated charcoal intake.

ADSORBS GAS FROM THE INTESTINES AND CAUSES BLOATING RELIEF

EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) recommends activated charcoal as an effective prevention of bloating but only in case it is administered in doses of at least 1 g right before or after the meal.

TEETH WHITENING

With its potent adsorptive properties activated charcoal binds most of the particles on the teeth surface. To achieve best possible effect it is recommended to use activated charcoal 2-3 times per week. In case you experience reactions due to sensitivity of your teeth or gum stop using activated charcoal.

ACUTE POISONING HIGH DOSES

In case of acute poisoning it is not recommended to use activated charcoal if an agent causing the condition is: mineral acid or alkali, cleansing product, heavy metal salt, methanol, ethanol or ethylene glycol. Reason for lower efficacy is low adsorption capacity for those substances.

DIARRHOEA â€‹DURATION REDUCTION

Activated charcoal has high affinity for toxins excreted by microorganism. After adsorption of toxins those particles are excreted from the body by feces therefore not being able to enter circulation. Activated should be administered as long as stool frequency is not normalized but no longer than 4 days.

SKIN CLEANSING

In addition to internal, enteral usage activated charcoal has its effect on the skin as well. Adsorption properties are as effective on the skin surface where activated charcoal binds microorganism, dirt and other foreign particles and consequently mechanically cleans the skin. Result to this effect is acne and infection prevention and body odor neutralization.
